How often do you take truly deep breaths? Not many of us exercise deep breathing even though it’s available to us all free of charge…

REMEMBER TO BREATHE

‘Remember to breathe’ is our second mantra for the colouring for mindful living program. I’ll be taking you through the concept of deep breathing and hopefully help you create a habit around conscious breathing.

What do I mean by this?

Your breath is a powerful tool that you can reach for in time of need – when you are dealing with a difficult situation, a challenging conversation with a person or getting stressed for one reason or another. It’s scientifically proven that deep breathing calms the nervous system and supports clarity of mind. The word ‘remember’ is key for this mantra. Remembering that you have your breath with you every day and you can reach for it whenever you need to, is something we don’t do.  The awareness is a habit requiring regular cultivation. This month’s mantra is designed to help you with that.

DEEP BREATHING FOR EMOTIONAL CLARITY

The mind is a tricky thing – it can be your best friend but also your worst enemy. When you feel like there is a lot of build up of thoughts in your mind and it’s making you anxious or worried, take a few deep breaths and notice your body and subsequently what happens to your mind.

Deep breathing can also help you manage emotional outbursts, frustrations or anger.

USE YOUR BREATH TO FEEL INTO YOUR BODY

Observation of the breath will make you notice your body and setting time aside for deep breathing will take you into your body... Have you ever noticed just how shallow your breath might be? There is a correlation between that and busy lifestyles. It could also be a symptom of anxiety, overwhelm and stress. So even though we might be breathing just OK, the quality of that breath is what I’d like to encourage you to examine.

BREATHING TECHNIQUES

I recorded a video where I dive into the benefits of deep breathing. I will also show you 2 simple breathing techniques that you can do anywhere anytime. Tune into the video here.

THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROGRAM GOES WAY BEYOND THE ACT OF COLOURING

I created the colouring sheets to:

+ give you permission to set some time aside for YOU

+ have fun doing something that you loved as a child

+ give you space to notice your thoughts and the chatter they create in your mind

+ give you a simple affirmation to practice each month that could spark a new healthy habit

+ get to know yourself more

+ feel into your body more

+ strengthen your intuition and foster a healthy mindset

+ notice what comes up during colouring without judgment

+ reduce stress, anxiety and overwhelm in your life

+ show you that colouring is a form of meditation

In support of this amazing program, I’ve engaged a few inspiring leaders and will be interviewing them about their mindset blocks and how they overcame them. These video interviews will be shared here on my blog and their common theme is ‘Mindset matters in life and Business’. Stay tuned…
